Phybridge PoLRE Introduction

A Phybridge PoLRE is a "Long Reach Ethernet" switch (24 or 48 port). It allows you to re-use existing legacy CAT3 telecoms cabling, with single pair station drops, for deploying IP phones with POE up to 1200 feet (365m) away. Mouse over image for port descriptions:

RUN: switch running normally
ALARM: problem with the PSU
FAULT: soft/hardware failure

Power injection (PoE): -54VDC, -37V when 1200’ (365m) away from switch.
Max. power consumption: Model 24-Port: 350W, Model 48-Port: 675W.

PoLRE switches can draw a lot of power! Consider the impact on outlets, breakers, and UPS runtime.

➤ The PBX pigtail is moved to a Phybridge RJ21 Downlink port, and IP sets deployed over the same cabling:

One Phylink adapter is required for each IP endpoint, max. 1200 feet (365m) from the switch. Ports link at: 10Mbit full-duplex.
A Phybridge PoLRE Uplink port (RJ45/Gbic) is connected to the IP PBX, or a TLAN switch port in the case of a Avaya CS1000.

Warning: DO NOT connect a digital TDM phone to a Phybridge PoLRE or Phylink port, you will fry it!

Defaults:

GBE Uplink: LAN 192.168.100.1
Mgmt port: LAN 192.168.1.1
Console port: Serial 115200-8n1
Username/password: admin / admin

Management: via Web GUI (Chrome/Firefox), Telnet, or serial TTY (Cisco cable).
Reset Button: Press for <10s to reboot, >10s to restore factory defaults.
