Rebuild a corrupted OTM database

Here are the step by step instructions to rebuild a corrupted OTM database:

1 Open the Station Administration window.

Select File → Reports → Report Generator.
Select Report → Run Report.
Select Telephone Directory by location → click OK.
Select Printer → click OK.

That gets you a hard copy of the existing database so you can put back the location and department information for each extension later. (This information is unfortuneatly lost if you "Retrieve → All" on the existing database).

2 In the OTM Navigator window, right click the existing system.

Click Properties and note the information under each tab.
Close the System Properties window.

3 Right click on the existing site and select: Add System

Type in or otherwise add the information you just copied down
- except, use a new system name so you can easily tell the new system database from the old one.
Pay paticular attention to the settings in the Communitcation and Application tabs.

4 When done, open the new system window.

Expand Stations.
Open Station Administration.
Click Synchronize → Retrieve →All
Watch OTM import the TNB data into the new database.
When done, close the window.

5 Open CPND.

Select View → CPND.
Select Edit → Add and take the defaults.
Select Synchronize → Retrieve → Selected to download the actual values.

6 Select View → Organizational Hierarchy.

Select the Levels tab.
Right click to add a new level. Two or three (Company, Division and Office) are usually enough, but duplicate what you already have in the old database.

7 Select the Organizations tab.

Right click to add new Divisions and Offices as needed, or to fix a name if you make a typo.
Close the window when done.

8 Select View → CPND Name.

Select Synchronize → Retrieve → All
Close the CPND window.

9 Open the Station Administration Window.

Fix the Location and the Department information for each extension.

10 Close the window, and then delete the old system. At this point you should have a clean OTM database to work with.
